Our owl family

After a trip to the beach one evening last week the kids ended up bring home more than a few rocks! The same weekend the weather turned very rainy so we were a bit housebound. So we made our pepples from the beach into this owl family. It was so easy but kept the kids busy for a good while.

firstly I painted each one with a base of white. Once they were dry the kids got busy with their markers (felt tips). It's just love hearts for faces, flowers for eyes and semi circles with half flower shapes for wings

My first embroidery.......

Apologies, not the best photo! This is the very first emroidery I've ever done, just completed tonight. I got the patterns from a little sweetness ages ago but I'm only getting around to using them now.

My wonderful little niece J just moved into her 'big girls bedroom' so I made this as a little gift :) Can't wait to give it to her (I hope she likes it!) I'm going to finish emroidering her name on it and make it into a little cushion for her bed.

I'm planning on making them again to start a project that's been in my head or a while now. That is going to be a 'Dolls and Dresses' wall.... I'll keep you posted (whenever I get aroud to starting it!)

Crochet

As I've said I learned to crochet last October with some friends of mine including my youngest sis. We went to 4 classes in our local yarn shop, Loza wool in Clondalkin. Maureen, who runs/owns the shop was a great teacher and we had a great laugh but to be honest I really didn't think I'd be that 'into' crochet... I was wrong :)

So far I've made a few bits and I've also discovered Ravelry, which is full of inspiration... my to-do list just keeps getting longer!

Here are a few of the things I've made so far....

Out of the 5 of us that learned to crochet together 4 of us meet up every week for what we've dubbed "craft night"(aka getting out of the house for tea and cake!)

Lets go fly a kite!

Well today was an unusually hot but still breezy day. I saw these on a blog (www.skiptomylou.org) the other day so decided to make them with the girls to keep them entertained while I was helping C master the art of the potty.

They were so easy to make and produced hours of great fun.

All you need is A4 paper, ruler, pencil, stapler, hole punch and some string.

fold the paper in half,
mark 2 1/2 inch and 3 1/2 inch,
staple the pieces up at the 1st mark,
punch a hole at the next mark,
tie the string into the hole,
and voila! simple right.

This is how ours turned out

Not very crafty but great results all the same....we ended up having to make about 10 for all their friends too.

We're going to make them again tomorrow but decorate them first
